DZG-wide seminar series: Computational Topics in Biomedicine

Topic: Decoding the Lung Using Single Cell Atlases of Models of Airways Disease

With: Alen Faiz, University of Technology Sydney

Prof. Alen Faiz is a molecular biologist and geneticist. He is the founder and leader of the Respiratory Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology (RBMB) Laboratory. His research focuses on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma, particularly in response to environmental factors like cigarette smoke and viral infections. He uses advanced bioinformatics, single-cell analysis, and gene-editing techniques in his work.

This series is designed to bring together data science and AI initiatives across the German Centers for Health Research (DZG) and to interact with international speakers who have generated impressive contributions to the translational application of AI and data science.
