German Center for Cardiovascular Research

Together for a Healthy Heart

At the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), new therapies and diagnostic methods are developed to improve the lives of people with cardiovascular diseases. The results of basic research are to reach patients quickly and in a targeted manner (translation). The DZHK therefore brings together outstanding basic researchers and clinical researchers from seven sites in Germany. It promotes cooperation between them with the aim of developing synergies and thus accelerating the process of translation.

The DZHK invests its funds primarily in previous weak points of the translation process. This is ensured by a coordinated research strategy and specific funding instruments.
