The German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) connects top national institutions and experts from different disciplines by creating joint structures and thus contributing to help bridging the translational gap between basic research and clinical cancer research and cancer prevention. The aim of this translational research is to decisively accelerate the transfer of promising results from basic research to clinical application and to specifically address open questions from the clinic in the laboratory ("reverse translation"). In this way, the DKTK improves the early detection, diagnosis and therapy of cancer and develops new strategies for personalized oncology.
