German Center for Mental Health

Better Together – Research for a Healthy Mind

The German Center for Mental Health (DZPG) investigates new methods to prevent, recognize and treat mental disorders. To this end, scientists at six locations are pooling their expertise. Patients and their relatives are actively involved in the committees and research projects. In this way, scientific projects can be better aligned with the needs of patients, thus improving the quality and chances of success of new therapies and diagnostic procedures. The goal is to ensure that people benefit from scientific discoveries as quickly as possible.

In the start-up phase of the DZPG, the focus is on early detection and prevention. In a lighthouse project, widely accessible prevention and early intervention tools will be developed and implemented in healthcare practice. In addition, joint research infrastructures will be established and networking between the sites will be promoted.
